Family History Research Series: Research for Lineage Society Membership In-Person

For adults and older teens.

This series is geared toward beginners starting their investigation into family history. A laptop or tablet will be useful. Wi-fi, pencils, worksheets, and guides will be provided. Each session may stand alone but the series will provide a foundation for those serious about building a family tree.

Part 3: Research for Lineage Society Membership
This session will look at the many lineage societies in the US such as DAR, SAR, Descendants of American Farmers and The General Society of Mayflower Descendants as well as discuss membership requirements and application.

About the presenter: Sara L. French has been "doing genealogy" since her teens, when she assisted her parents with the preparation of a published genealogy for the Griswold Family Association of America. Since 2010, Sara has been assisting women to join the Daughters of the American Revolution and other lineage societies, conducting workshops, and furthering her education in genealogical research techniques. She teaches at SUNY-ESF and has published numerous articles on Early Modern women and architecture. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from Binghamton University and B.A. from Wells College.
